Certainty in an Uncertain World

"There are no certainties without the authority of the Scriptures. We have nothing but commas and questions marks to offer if we lose confidence in the inerrant and infallible Word of God." Such a strong sentiment, from the pen of Micahel Duduit, cannot be proclaimed too often in our uncertain, drifting and crumbling world.

The celebration of the birth of Christ provides the Church of Jesus Christ and the followers of Jesus Christ with a certain message of a certain Gospel brought by a certain Savior to save people who are certainly sinners.

The Names for Christ in Isaiah 9:6 remind us that God has everything covered in His plan.

  • His Name is Wonderful - Christ's superlative character - takes care of the dullness of life.
  • His Name is Counselor - Christ's specific concern - takes care of the decisions of life.
  • His Name is Mighty God - Christ's sovereign control - takes care of the demands of life.
  • His Name is Everlasting Father - Christ's saving cross - takes care of the duration of life.
  • His Name is Prince of Peace - Christ's steady companionship - takes care of the disturbances of life.
Don't succumb to culture and allow your Christmas to degenerate into a shopping spree and a feeding frenzy.

Rather, make sure you invest some time reading Matthew 1 & 2 and Luke 1 & 2. This is God's authoritative record of the only story that can shatter the uncertainty the world offers by bringing you to the certainty of salvation through the person and work of Jesus Christ.

O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!
